Q: When should I place my cart out for collection?
A: Once you sign up for service we will notify you of the day of service. All garbage and recycling containers need to be placed at the curb or roadside the night before your service day or by 6 a.m. the day of service. Please keep in mind that service times may vary from week to week. Our routes run late into the day so if you arrive home from work and you cart has not been service yet please do not roll it in.
Q. Where should I place my cart?
A: Place the roll out cart at the curb with the pushing handle facing your home. The cart should be at least three feet away from any obstructions such as mail boxes, power poles, parked cars, or trees. Also, by placing your cart correctly it is easier to dump and it will be much less likely to have waste spill out.
Q: What if I have more garbage than my cart can hold?
A: OCS allows occasional extra garbage up to three additional bags. In order for the bags to be picked up they must be placed on top of the cart.
Q: I'm interested in recycling. What are my options?
A: We do not currently offer recycling services for individual subscription customers due to limited demand. Some towns have contracted us to provide single stream recycling (you do not need to sort). If you are interested, we encourage you to call or email and ask to be added to the list of interested customers. Once we have enough demand we will be sure to contact you so we can set up service.
Q: How will my trash be handled around the holidays?
A: OCS observes the following holiday schedule: New Year's Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If your scheduled collection falls on one of the listed holidays, collection will be the day after. Normal collection will resume the following week.
Q: What other information is helpful to know regarding my trash?
A: We recommend bagging your trash so it won't stick to the inside of the cart. This will also keep the carts clean on the inside. Do your best to break down the items inside the cart so they don't lodge themselves inside and make it difficult to dump.
