Transfer stations provide an efficient, environmentally friendly way to receive, process, compact and transfer solid waste to larger vehicles for transport to an environmentally secure landfill. Located seven miles south of Kinston, OCS operates the Deep Run Transfer Station in Deep Run, NC. Our transfer station is not just a place where waste is disposed, but an important and fundamental part of effective waste management, ensuring that waste is transferred in a clean, secure, and cost effective manner. Situated on 80 acres, the facility is permitted to accept 500 tons of waste daily. All of the waste materials are redirected to area facilities for disposal or recycling. Operated under strictly regulated and prescribed procedures, our transfer station is closely monitored by NC Department of Environmental Resources and by other local, state and federal agencies. OCS customers benefit from our operation of the transfer station as it allows us to provide customers access to disposal 24/7 when landfills are closed for holidays or inclement weather. |
